They look much better once I add the eyes and glasses and sometimes teeth. 

This is what they look like a few days after drying them in a barely warm oven. The apples were large to begin with.

Three new heads in the oven.

I had to toss out all the heads I'd already made when I moved. So I just carved 3 new heads and stuck them on low in the oven.
